How to treat sunburn?

what a great weekend we had, sunny and hot. But, with the sun and hot weather we get sunburned if we do not take caution. And so I did. Just on my chest I have a nasty sunburn and now it is warm and it´s itches bad. I have used aftersunoil and it helps a bit. But, what I should have done was having something to put on to be safed from it, and I did not. Hopefully we have the same great weather on the wedding day, and this time I will use protection against sunburning. I never get brown on my skin from the sun, I become red and burned. I shore need to use protection. So,how about You do you have the problem of not being brown in the sun?
